Why LEVELSTAIR Exists
Before 2024, game development in Sri Lanka was scattered. Small pockets of programmers, 3D artists, and animators worked in isolation, with few local venues to show their work or find collaborators. LEVELSTAIR was built to close that gap: a single ecosystem where a developer can find a team, a studio can ship a game, and a student can walk into a national conference and meet the people building the industry.
The Three Pillars
1. Community
The LEVELSTAIR Community is a free, 1,000+ member network of game developers, 2D/3D artists, writers, and gamers across Sri Lanka and South Asia. It’s organized into focused groups, including Gamer Fortress (casual gaming), General Chat, XR Development, D&D Sessions, and VTubing (Hayata), all accessible through Discord, WhatsApp, and the community portal.
2. Studio
Levelstair Studios is the in-house production arm, building original PC, mobile, and web games, 2D animation, and AR/VR/spatial-computing experiences, from open-source experiments like LyreLiar to immersive VR titles like Hit Me.
3. Events
LEVELSTAIR organizes Sri Lanka’s national game development calendar. Its milestones so far:
- Nov 2024Level Zero Game Jam launches
A free, beginner-friendly game jam, first run on itch.io and held monthly on the community portal from 2026.
- Dec 2024Level Up 2024: the first meetup
LEVELSTAIR's first in-person game dev meetup: 40 attendees at the Imagine Auditorium, TV Derana, with a knowledge session by Mogo Games.

LEVELSTAIR's flagship game development championship for schools and universities: 300+ applicants and 30 playable games.
